Over 73,000 lbs of fresh produce grown and eaten
We harvest foods from local farms in our community. We work with local farmers to grow fruits and vegetables. They give us fresh chicken, beef and dairy products, which means our kids can drink fresh milk every morning.
44 donation bins across Ottawa
We collect food in lots of different ways. Most of it comes from donation bins in grocery stores across the city. We pick up the food and our volunteers help get it out to 140+ member agencies.
Over 24,000 volunteer hours annually
When food arrives at our warehouse, our volunteers sort it into different categories after they’ve looked over the food carefully to make sure it’s good quality and safe to distribute.
14 tons of food distributed each day
We distribute food right across Ottawa. Our drivers take the shortest routes from big downtown shelters and small community food banks to multi-service centres and school meal programs.
Every dollar donated becomes $5 worth of food
It takes nearly $1.3M each year to feed the hungry in our city. Food donations help but they nearly scratch the surface. Thankfully our food industry partners give us a large volume discount with the large amounts of food we buy. That means every dollar we spend buys 5 times the food.
