Every dollar donated becomes $5 worth of food.

The Ottawa Food Bank provides fresh and non-perishable food, as well as supplies such as diapers, toiletries, and cleaning supplies to its network of over 100 food programs across the city.

Here's how your donation is helping Ottawa families:

  • “My mom works at two jobs but sometimes there isn’t enough food for us. She tries to give us food for school, but there’s never enough for all of the nutrition breaks, so I just sit and wait for it to be over.”

    Selena, 12 years old

  • "When my husband got injured at work, we had to choose between feeding our baby and feeding ourselves - our son came first, so we turned to the food bank for help. That night, we sat down with canned ham and rice from the food bank, and despite our struggles, we felt happy and grateful just to have food on our plates and each other. Now our son asks for grocery donations instead of birthday gifts, and I donate 10% of my new business's profits because I know firsthand there's no 'type' of person who needs help."

    Michelle

  • "When we came from Algeria to Ottawa with our baby girl, we had nothing but hope for a better life. Even though our apartment was empty except for a crib and small table, we wanted to thank the food bank by inviting them for dinner using the very food they'd given us."

    The Khadra Family

  • "I spent everything on keeping my six kids warm this winter with coats and mittens, leaving nothing for Christmas dinner. Being able to get a ham, turkey, and food cards from the food bank means my children can have a real Christmas celebration."

Anne, single mom with 6 children

  • “I have breakfast at school, but on the weekends there is never enough to eat. By Monday I am really, really hungry."

    Owen, 9 years old

  • "At 16, I fled my abusive home with no idea how to survive - a scared, lonely high school dropout working minimum wage and needing the food bank's help at 17. Despite my initial shame and fear of judgment, I found only support and encouragement there, and the food bank became part of the social network that saved my life, helping me complete my master's degree."
